an adult three things: to be happy for no reason, to always be busy with something, and to know how to demand with all his

INFANT DAYCARE

Ms. Heidi Hi, my name is Heidi and I began working at Start Smart in September 2008. My whole life, I
have grown up with a love for children and sport. This has always stayed with me and I now have a diploma in both Early Childhood
Education and Sports Science through Douglas College. As well, I have earned my Infant/Toddler and Special Needs Certificates
through Douglas College. I am from Coquitlam
and have previously worked many years as a city employee at the sports centre, teaching skating lessons and running drop in
stick, puck and ring programs. I have also spent 5 summers as a tennis instructor and 5 summers as a sports camp leader. The
main reason for enjoying all of this previous work was because it was working with children of various ages. I began at Start Smart working in the Toddler room and about a
year later, have now moved into the Infant room. I have always loved this infant/toddler age as I have grown up in a large
family with many young children around at all times. I am so happy that I can now come to work every day and do what I love.
I can not get enough of being a part of a child's learning process as they grow and discover new things, while moving through
the developmental stages. I feel inspired each day as I know my ultimate goal is to care for and have a positive effect on
each child in my care. I look forward to getting to know the children and families that have also become a part of Start Smart.

Ms. Lauree Hi, my name is Lauree and I have worked in the early childhood field over 28 years. I
have worked as a supervisor, manager, and director for a church society. I also ran a center of my own for twelve and half
years. I have my Early Childhood Education Certificate and my Infant Toddler Certificate. I have been working in the under
three age group for four and half years; I worked twenty-four years before that with 3-5 year olds. I enjoy working with the
babies; encouraging them to explore and learn from their surroundings, also singing, dancing and doing art exploration with
them. The 3-5 age groups are more challenging because you expand on what they want to learn and teach them activities to support
their learning. I’m caring, nurturing, patient, understanding and I work well with both parents and staff. I find working
with young children at any age to be rewarding and I enjoy seeing them grow.

TODDLER DAYCARE

Ms. Krystal Hi, my name is Krystal and I received my Early Childhood Education diploma & Special
Needs certificate from Douglas College in 2003. Once I realized that my real interest was in caring for children under 3 years,
I returned to school to obtain my Infant/Toddler certificate in 2007. I have been working at Infant/Toddler centres since
2004. I have always known that I was going to have a career involving children
and I started at age nine by helping my sister babysit. I enjoy watching children learn through play and setting up an
environment that gives the children an opportunity to explore and create. I believe speaking to children positively and resectfully,
while giving them choices, allows them to be happy and learn to be independent. I am very happy to be working at Start Smart Childcare Centre and I look forward to getting to know all of
the children and families here.
